The IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) has pre-certified the Abellon Jamnagar Waste to Energy plant campus as a “IGBC Platinum” campus.
The IGBC has given the campus “IGBC Platinum” rating and “Global Leadership” recognition, after reviewing the design parameters and innovative approaches adopted on the campus.
Goodwatts WTE Jamnagar (which is expected to be operational soon) will be a non- human interface based renewable power plant with a capacity of processing around 450 tons of municipal solid waste per day with advanced flue gas cleaning technology.
The overall design and campus development have adopted several green attributes, which include:
One of the lowest area footprints among power plants around the globe
High green cover of over 35% of site area, with more than 20% area planted with drought tolerant plants
Rainwater harvesting system with capacity to harness total run-off volume
Usage of treated city wastewater for cooling system of powerplant
Efficient plumbing system with over 60% water savings of non-process consumption
Energy efficient fixtures – over 30% energy savings of non-process annual consumption
On-site renewable power generation for non-process power consumption
Improved indoor environment quality with enhanced fresh air ventilation and daylight factor
Avoided usage of high – VOC paints, CFC based HVAC system and usage of asbestos to maintain better occupational health
Enhanced social sustainability through dedicated provisions for community engagement, sports and national event celebrations and green education. The above green attributes contributed to credit points achieved across 6 key parameters including site selection and planning, water conservation, material conservation, energy conservation, indoor environment quality and occupational health, as well as innovation in design.
Our campus successfully achieved the credit points required (between 81 to 100) to qualify for “Platinum” certification, which is the highest rating given by the IGBC.
